We are passionate about making art as accessible as possible for all children and young people. We work hard to create engaging and inclusive programmes that remove barriers to participation. Through grant funding, we are able to work closely with local schools and early years settings to offer fully funded workshops on your own setting.

Budding Artists – Community Outreach Programme

Budding Artists is a community outreach initiative delivered by City Arts Newbury, designed to engage local preschools, nurseries, and early years settings. Through this programme, professional artists deliver fully funded workshops directly within these settings, enriching the early years curriculum and introducing children to a wide range of artistic media and techniques.

These workshops provide valuable opportunities for creative exploration and artistic engagement—experiences that many children may not otherwise have access to. The programme also helps to strengthen connections between City Arts and the wider local community, fostering inclusion, creativity, and cultural participation from an early age.

What to expect?

• A personal visit to determine what you want to do during the sessions, agree your dates and understand your environment and theme needs
• Three sessions in your own setting for an early years group of children fully funded

We feel privileged to have been asked to be part of the project and the children’s faces were a delight, they showed that they could listen and were keen to respond to the instructions they were given which were delivered in an age appropriate way. The children will get to see their work displayed as a permanent piece of art in the EYFS area, they often comment on the hands we already have and the fish. Thank you so much to the City Arts team for our wonderful Budding Artist sessions. The children really enjoyed learning new skills through well planned, organised activities which were delivered very skilfully by caring, inspirational and patient artists. We are passionate about including creative learning for or pre schoolers, and the City Arts programme certainly supports this ethos. We definitely hope that we can continue our links with the scheme and can book in some regular visits from the artists over the coming months.
