Art meets – for artists looking for a discussion forum

This initiative is led by Lorna Goldsmith

If you would like to meet other artists to present and discuss your work in a mutually supportive environment this may be an opportunity to explore more.

We are offering a monthly meeting that might offer a number of ways to discuss art

At our first meeting on 18 March, we discussed  a range of topics – many of the artists would like to discuss their work to get some feedback from the group, some would like to think about working collaboratively, art and the business of selling and marketing. It was also of interest, and working practically, on a project sounds like an exciting prospect.

The format will loosely be set out as a preliminary talk, and then discussion – please bring some work if you would like some feedback. We will need to gauge how long things will take as we go along here in the beginning.

This is the programme of topics for the first 4 meetings – note slightly later time to try to avoid the background noise of City Arts Cafe while we talk:

  • Sunday 23rd April  16-17.30: Sources of Inspiration, Isabel,
  • Saturday 3rd June  16-17.30: Magdalena Abakanowicz and The Fibre Art movement, Lorna
  • Saturday 8th July 16-17.30: Digital art – anyone who would like to contribute to this, please let us know
  • Saturday 12th August 16-17.30: Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet – available here – discussion – art advice, what could it be, is it useful, what would we like it to be?
