Moon Festival Summer Ceramics Course #1 – 2 days
Wed 16 & Thu 17 Dates are no longer available but the making options described below are available on the Sun 20 & Mon 21 course.
Ever fancied trying a throw-down challenge? This course provides ow expert tuition and the perfect opportunity to learn, progress, and apply techniques including slab-building, coiling, adding surface texture & pattern, as well as using a potter’s wheel. Create an inspired range of ceramic pieces including a sculpted ‘moon gazing hare’, a thrown ‘land among the stars’ cup, a coiled ‘moon jar’ and a carved coaster or tile.






Moon Festival Summer Ceramics Course #2 – 2 days
Sunday 20 & Monday 21 August 2023 – 11am to 4:30pm each day – £240 +£5/piece firing charge payable directly to tutors as needed.
Find calm, become immersed in your creative connection with clay, extend a coiled ‘moon flower vase’, throw and open a lune ‘breakfast bowl’, develop a textured, patterned ‘lunar relief’, and sculpt a beautiful ‘moon goddess’ figure.






Moon Festival Ceramics Glazing Workshop Course#3 – 3 hrs
Sunday 3 September 2023 – 10am to 1pm – £45
Glaze to add colour and decoration to the pieces you make during any of the Moon Festival Ceramics Summer Courses. Book onto this workshop at the time of booking your Moon Festival Ceramics course. Please note this workshop is only open to those pursuing the Moon Festival Ceramics courses.





Bundle Option: Full Moon Festival Ceramics Summer School (Courses #1, #2 & #3 combined) – 4.5 days £430 bundle price.
This includes parts 1, 2 and 3 of the Moon Festival Ceramics Courses as outlined above and provides a well-configured, complete experience which enables an in-depth progression of skills and competences in techniques for creating with the marvellous medium of clay. You benefit from a carefully programmed succession of projects as well as the potential to specialise further in a preferred technique – be it throwing, sculpting, or hand-building. The addition of colour and decoration to your work is included in the glazing workshop.
Please Note
Parts 1 or 2 of The Moon Festival Summer Ceramics School can also be booked as standalone courses. Part 3 is for those wishing to glaze their own work using a wide choice of colours. If opting not to take part in this, all pieces for firing will be completed using a transparent dipping glaze.
In addition to tuition and guidance the stated course prices include the use of all, resources, tools and materials during the sessions and exclude only a nominal firing charge of £5 per piece.
These courses are open to anyone from beginners to more experienced amateur ceramicists and are suitable for adults. They are open to children/teens aged between 11 & 17 years only if accompanied by an adult who is also participating in the course.
Please Note: Susie’s potter’s wheels are not suitable for people with pacemakers.
Once through its final kiln firing your work will be made available to you for collection by arrangement with Susie.

Cancellation policy.
Please note that a ticketing fee of £10 is included in the price of each course and this is not refundable in any circumstance (£2 in the case of the Glazing option)
If you are unable to attend the workshop and you cancel your attendance more than two weeks prior to the workshop, the ticketing fee above will be retained. If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop no fees are refundable.
In the event of City Arts having to cancel the workshop due to participants’ numbers falling below the minimum requirement or government advice changes, we will refund the whole workshop amount.
