A Visible Mending workshop with Sabrina Talana-Carruth

This workshop is for adults or older teens (16+)
An introduction to the exciting technique of visible mending.
Discover how to repair your favourite wool garment in a very creative and decorative way, making a statement of what was once a little hole!
Apply visible mending to repair an item of your choice, that you will need to bring on the day.



This short workshop will briefly cover principles of sustainability,up cycling,zero waste and highlight some of the names of makers that have embraced this technique as a way of work as well as their contribution to a less wasteful lifestyle. You will be also given some handouts with information on various mending techniques for you to explore.
Please bring your scissors or snippers for cutting the thread, darning needles and your wool garnment to repair. Feel free to bring any woolen thread in the colours that you wish to use, however several threads will be provided.
Bring along any darning wooden mushroom, eggs,tennis balls, tangerines,grapefruit,and other items to support your garnment while mending,if you have any. Sabrina has a small selection that she will bring along but these might not be sufficient for all.

Cancellation policy.
Please note that a ticketing fee of £2 is included in the price of this workshop and this is not refundable in any circumstance.
If you are unable to attend the workshop and you cancel your attendance more than two weeks prior to the workshop, the ticketing fee above will be retained. If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop no fees are refundable.
In the event of City Arts having to cancel the workshop due to participants’ numbers falling below the minimum requirement or government advice changes, we will refund the whole workshop amount.
