Art Trail Canal Walk Workshop

Art Walk TRAIL with ART Workshop with JACKY PURTILL

Wednesday 21 August 2024 – 10am to 2:30pm – 55

This workshop is suitable for adults.

Join Jacky Purtill on a scenic walk along the Kennet canal in Newbury.
You will meet at City Arts at 10.30am and take a relaxed walk along the Kennet canal. On your walk you will:

  • Observe the wonderful nature and unique buildings and structures that Newbury has to offer.
  • Take photographs of what you see and are inspired by (these images will be used to support your art session in the afternoon)
  • Produce textured rubbings of textures you come across for example tree bark, pavements, walls, using oil pastel/pencil and tissue paper (these papers will be used within the actual artwork)
  • Collect objects and items you feel could be practically used within your artwork.
  • Sketches. You will visually and practically document aspects of the canal using drawing media. Focussing on sketching rather then drawing (you will use these sketches within your actual artwork)
  • You will produce unique mixed media artwork from the outcomes of your arts trail.

10am – meet at City Arts
10.30am – 11.30am – arts trail walk
11.30am – 12.30pm – lunch/return back to City Arts
12.30pm – 2.30pm – creating mixed media artwork from arts trail walk

What to bring :

Please bring with you the following on the day of the workshop:

  • Packed lunch/monies for lunch
  • Sketchbook
  • Drawing implements – sketching pencils and fine liner pens
  • Camera or means to take good quality photographs

Please wear study shoes or boots and weather appropriate clothing.

No experience required. Full tuition will be provided in the workshop.

Covid prevention

If you feel unwell please carry out a test and don’t attend if positive to avoid contagion as far as possible of our more vulnerable customers.

Cancellation policy.

Please note that a ticketing fee of £2 is included in the price of this workshop and this is not refundable in any circumstance.

If you are unable to attend the workshop and you cancel your attendance more than two weeks prior to the workshop, the ticketing fee above will be retained.  If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop no fees are refundable.

In the event of City Arts having to cancel the workshop due to participants’ numbers falling below the minimum requirement or government advice changes, we will refund the whole workshop amount.
