4 art activities throughout the day with various artists tutors
£15 per single activity, 10% of for 2 activities, 15% for 3 activities and 20% off for 4 activities on the same day (whole day price per child is £48) .
These art sessions are for kids 7 years old and over.
Enjoy an totally arty day doing various activities (or choose only one to do).
During the day you’ll explore ceramics with Pots of Hope Susie, Collage with Sabrina, Printmaking with Charlotte and Scraper Art with Jacky.




Our artists tutors will guide, inspire and develop the Artist in everyone. Participating children who would like to, will be able to display up to 3 pieces in our August Exhibition entitled ‘Playful’ which is free for visitors to enjoy and appreciate from 9 to 25 August at City Arts Newbury, during the Art Hub Café opening hours.
Choose either individual sessions or various set combinations when you buy your tickets.
Times, topics and description of each of the sessions for 6 August 2024 are as follows:
- Session A – 9 to 10:30 – Pinch Pot Sea Animals in Air Dry Clay with Pots of Hope Susie – Pinch and sculpt your favourite sea creature(s) in air drying clay using a range of potter’s tools and techniques.
Susie will introduce you to pinching, joining and mark making in clay using a range of tools and resources to develop the shape, form, and texture of sea animals of your choice using air drying clay. You will then have the option to either add colour with acrylic paints whilst your work is still wet or if you join Friday’s workshop to return to paint both your sea animals(s) and a pop-up ocean backdrop for displaying your work. - 10:30 to 11 am Morning Break (while artists swap their tools) – there will be a small children activity run by a volunteer and a chance of having a snack (bring your own) to keep your energy going.
- Session B – 11am to 12:30pm – Fantastic Worlds and Creatures Collage with Sabrina Talana-Carruth – Discuss, plan, and decide on your design, theme and visual for a story you will create and tell with collage. Sabrina will help you to select, mix, and match, patterned paper from discarded wallpaper books and other scrap paper sources to cut into shapes and assemble together during the session.
- 12:30 to 1pm – Lunch Break (while artists swap their tools) – Bring your own packed lunch and drink – there will be an informal children activity run by a volunteer.
- Session C – 1 to 2:30pm – Summer Printmaking with Charlotte Adcock – Create lots of colourful summer inspired prints, using safe carve printing techniques with foam. Come and get creative, have fun, and learn some new techniques this summer. You will make lots of unique prints to take home! Dress for mess!
- 2:30 to 3pm – Afternoon Break (while artists swap their tools) – there will be a small children activity run by a volunteer and a chance of having a snack (bring your own) to keep your energy going.
- Session D – 3 to 4:30 pm – Scraper Art with Jacky Purtill – Come and play, have some messy fun creating amazing scraper Art.
Enjoy using different tools to scrape the paint across the paper creating amazing effects. Then have more fun using a compass and paint brush to create painted circles on-top of the scraper art background. Finally enjoy drawing back into the scraper and compass art.
If staying for the whole day there will a few short pauses (30 minutes) at 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30
Bring a packed lunch and any drinks and snacks required for the day.
Dress for mess – bring an apron or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Siblings get a further discount on second ticket – please book your full priced ticket and we’ll refund £3/session booked (up to £12 for the whole day).




Cancellation policy.
Please note that a ticketing fee of £2 (per session) is included in the price of this workshop and this is not refundable in any circumstance.
If you are unable to attend the workshop and you cancel your attendance more than two weeks prior to the workshop, the ticketing fee above will be retained. If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop no fees are refundable.
In the event of City Arts having to cancel the workshop due to participants’ numbers falling below the minimum requirement or government advice changes, we will refund the whole workshop amount.
