Impressionist Spring Landscapes in Acrylics

One day workshop with JONATHAN NEWEY

Sunday 22 March 2026 – 10am to 4pm – £70 (plus bring some materials – list below)
This workshop is suitable for adults.

In this workshop you’ll immerse yourself in colour, light, and texture. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this hands-on session explores Impressionist techniques to capture the freshness of spring.
Guided by Jonathan, you’ll learn brushwork, colour mixing, and composition to create your own vibrant landscape masterpiece.
All techniques will be demonstrated by Jonathan, step by step. Just bring your creativity and leave with a finished painting to cherish!

Examples of Jonathan’s work

Materials to bring

  • 1 x A4 tear-off palette or a few paper plates
  • 1 x size 4, 8 and 12 acrylic painting brush, round or filbert shape
  • Brush sizes vary depending on manufacturer. You will need brushes approximately 5mm, 10mm and 15mm wide plus one size 2 or 4 round watercolour brush
  • Daler Rowney System 3 paint (or an equivalent make such as Winsor Newton) 75ml tubes, one each of the following colours: Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Sienna or Burnt Umber and Titanium White
  • 1 x A3 Pad (or a couple of sheets) Daler Rowney System 3 acrylic paper (if you have watercolour paper then this will suffice)
  • Canvas boards are ideal
  • 1 x palette knife
  • box of tissues or a couple of small rags
  • cling film to cover your palette
  • an old shirt or apron to wear when painting

Jonathan will have a selection of tools and materials to buy/borrow but may not have enough for everyone.

Cancellation policy.

Please note that a ticketing fee of £5 is included in the price of this workshop and this is not refundable in any circumstance.

If you are unable to attend the workshop and you cancel your attendance more than two weeks prior to the workshop, the ticketing fee above will be retained.  If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop no fees are refundable.

In the event of City Arts having to cancel the workshop due to participants’ numbers falling below the minimum requirement or government advice changes, we will refund the whole workshop amount.
