September Ceramics 2026

We are delighted to host September Ceramics 2026 at City Arts Newbury!
Organised and curated by Katherine Kingdon, the show is a themed exhibition which takes advantage of our building’s great sense of light and space.

Stallholders are selected from amongst our local ceramicists and potters. This year they will also be bringing their choice of pieces for our ‘Up and Coming’ makers competition.

Prizes are kindly donated by City Arts Newbury, and other ceramics related businesses, with awards for both the stall holders and the Up and Coming makers

Demonstrations, meet the makers and taster sessions take place on Fridays and during the weekends – check full details nearer the time..

EXHIBITORS 2026

In 2026 we welcome the following ceramicists to September Ceramics: Katherine Kingdon, Lizzy McCracken, Ally Keeling, Susie Pots of Hope, Anne Dalton, Ursula Waechter and Nina Romanowski

Katherine Kingdon

Katherine’s slab-built vessels take joy in both the nature of clay and its deep link to human history. Her vessel forms are an instrument for storytelling. The aim is to delight and intrigue and to leave enough space for the imagination to play.

Ally Keeling

Thrown and hand built stoneware forms are developed with surface decoration using colored slips, inlay or sgraffito techniques. Oxide washes are frequently used to build depth of texture and tonal variation of colour reflecting observations drawn from the natural landscape.

Anne Dalton

Anne’s stoneware pieces are either thrown or hand built and are frequently decorated with designs inspired by the natural world. She enjoys exploring the contrast in texture between glazed and unglazed surfaces.

Lizzy McCracken

Lizzy makes functional thrown tableware decorated with a sgraffito technique, carving back through layers of coloured slip or oxide to reveal the clay beneath. Her surface patterns and motifs are inspired by natural forms, seed heads and flowers.

Pots of Hope, Susie

Susie lives and teaches the mindful creative practice of making beautiful and functional ceramics. Infusing each day with optimism: there’s hope in every pot. Find mantra-for-wellbeing inspired stoneware products as well as fun, friendly and absorbing #pottery courses and #clay classes locally..

Ursula Waechter

Ursula produces tin-glazed earthenware for use and decoration. She decorates with oxide mixtures and bright stains using calligraphic brush work, resist and sgraffito techniques. 
She accepts lettered commissions and offer individual tuition in throwing and decorating in her workshop.

Nina Romanowski

Nina explores the complexities of the human experience, reflecting emotions and feelings that make up life, into ceramic figurative sculpture. She looks to combine her interest in psychology with an enjoyment of creating faces, expressions and characters from clay.
