5 week Course with Sue Bridge
Tuesdays 23 April to 21 May 2024 – 10am to 1pm – £150 for 5 sessions
This course is for adults (18+).
Transform an empty sketchbook over the course of 5 weeks into a rich and varied book to be treasured. Work from direct experience and photos. Each week a unique topic will enable you to gain experience in a variety of mixed media using acrylics, watercolour, oil pastel, chalk and charcoal.
This course consists of a series of practical topic based exercises designed to inspire your creativity, develop ideas and open your mind to new artistic processes.
The initial 5 week course will kick-start the transformation of a bland and empty sketchpad into a rich and creative journal which will offer a range of possibilities ripe for development.
A further course will take place later on in the summer (25 June to 23 July) to continue filling up the sketchbook.
Each week we will build a new page and you will be introduced to a different media, technique or subject touching upon the work of artists who have worked on similar themes.
Suggestions for additional work at home will also be given. Course is suitable for beginners and intermediates.
Materials
On the first week, students will be given a hard backed sketchpad and initially we will develop a number of surfaces to work upon in forthcoming weeks.
Tutor will provide basic materials each week for all to use. Students are welcome to bring their own paints and brushes too. Information about this will be given the preceding week.

Cancellation policy.
Please note that a ticketing fee of £2 is included in the price of this workshop and this is not refundable in any circumstance.
If you are unable to attend the workshop and you cancel your attendance more than two weeks prior to the workshop, the ticketing fee above will be retained. If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop no fees are refundable.
In the event of City Arts having to cancel the workshop due to participants’ numbers falling below the minimum requirement or government advice changes, we will refund the whole workshop amount.
