4 WEEK Intro Course for Adults with Jason Legget
Thursdays 17, 24 October and 7, 14 November 2024 – 6:30 to 8:30 pm – £175
This course is for adults
This course gives the students an opportunity to learn the basics of glass fusing and Copper foiling techniques over a 4-week period.
The first 2 weeks will be learning the copper foiling technique and the remaining 2 weeks will be learning glass fusing technique.
Week 1 – Basic copper foiling making a pre-cut sun catcher, you will learn how to attach the copper foil to the glass and how to join it together by soldering. At the end of the workshop, you will be able to take the piece home with you.
Week 2 – Making a 3-dimensional candle holder using the skills you learnt the previous week plus the additional skills of making a a 3D piece. This will be made by creating 4 x panels then joining them together. Once again at the end of the class you will be able to take the piece home again.
Week 3 – Basic Glass fusing making a selection of small samples using various glass elements. We will learn the basics of glass cutting to enable students to be able to create shapes to their own requirements, we will also discuss compatibility and fusing temperatures to achieve different finishes, (full, Contour and tack fusing). The samples will be taken away for firing at my studio and will be brought back the following session.
Week 4 – We will look at the samples from the previous session then decide what to make as a final piece, this will be a bowl, set of coasters, or a freestanding S-curve. Due to the firing process your final piece will not be available for collection until 2 weeks later

Cancellation policy.
Please note that a ticketing fee of £2 is included in the price of this workshop and this is not refundable in any circumstance.
If you are unable to attend the workshop and you cancel your attendance more than two weeks prior to the workshop, the ticketing fee above will be retained. If you cancel less than two weeks before the workshop no fees are refundable.
In the event of City Arts having to cancel the workshop due to participants’ numbers falling below the minimum requirement or government advice changes, we will refund the whole workshop amount.
