Explore the art of gelli printing using pressed seaweeds, beachcombing treasures, and other botanical materials in this immersive, hands-on workshop. Drawing inspiration from the textures and forms of the shoreline, you’ll learn how to build layered compositions that celebrate the natural world.

Through guided demonstrations and plenty of creative play, you’ll discover how to use positive and negative space to create depth, contrast, and visual rhythm in your prints. We’ll experiment with layering techniques using ghost prints, masks, and stencils to achieve rich, multi-dimensional textures.

You’ll also explore how the distinctive forms of seaweeds, shells, fossils, pottery fragments, and seed heads can be used to create rich, tactile impressions on the gel plate. These natural and manmade finds—each with their own unique surface textures—act as both tools and inspiration, allowing you to build layered prints that echo the patterns of tide-washed shores and ancient landscapes.
